【「ダルフールのための歌」～「タッチ」】
タッチ。
西アフリカ、スーダン共和国西側の地域ダルフールで起こっている紛争で虐殺された人々や、次々と生まれている難民を助け、その紛争自体への関心を高めようという作品が東京でレコーディングされている。この問題は、日本ではほとんどメディアで報道されていないが、アメリカ、イギリスの一部のメディアでドキュメンタリーなどが報道されている。アメリカでは俳優のジョージ・クルーニーが関心を寄せ、コメントを発表している。
今回録音されている曲のタイトルは「タッチ」。ダルフール・プロジェクトの中で、映画『シング・フォー・ダルフール』の公開を9月に控え、そのプロモーションの一環としてこの「タッチ」の制作、発表がある。
レコーディングは、トラックをすでにペニーＫなどが制作しており、この日はヴォーカルを録音。まずイントロの部分のコーラスをソプラノ、テナーなどに分けて録音。しかも各パートに数人のシンガーたちがいるので、そのメロディーをケイリブたちが教える。この数十秒のイントロの録音だけで、相当な時間をかけていた。
男性コーラスを入れるところで、誰かのお腹がなった。ケイリブが言う。「ずいぶんいいマイクロフォンだなあ。もう一度やり直し。ボビー・マクファーリンみたいなノイズは入らないからな」 全員が爆笑する。あるいは、誰かの声がフラット気味になった。ケイリブがエンジニアに言う。「今の部分を後で、ちょっとだけ手術できるかい？」 ブースのこちら側から返事が飛ぶ。「どんな手術だ？」（笑）
レコーディングは延々と続き、予定された初日では終わらなかった。
今回の映画、楽曲のコンセプトは、「タッチ（触れる）」ということ。映画のプレス・リリースにも単なる印刷物だけではなく、凹凸がついた部分がある。これも「タッチ」を意識したものだ、とプロデューサーの臺さんが言う。
「タッチ」の歌詞はこんな感じだ。
